Let\u2019s look at what you think of you.\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at ourselves in our mirror.\u00a0 This is a never-ending process because improvement is everywhere along the journey.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to understand, as we get into the management skills area, that how you see yourself is foundational.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have to be comfortable with who you are.\u00a0 Not only from your perspective, but from others\u2019 perspective as well.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry, it should be a fun journey because revelation that leads to development is fun, because it also leads to success.\u00a0 You\u2019re probably going to find this to be perhaps the most difficult part of this discussion, because if you read it and you think about it, you should come out of it challenged. You may come out of it patting yourself on the back saying, \u201cYes, I\u2019ve got everything all lined up on these things.\u201d You may come out of it thinking, \u201cWell, I\u2019m 50% there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

You may come out of it thinking you\u2019re only 10% there.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter where you are. What matters is what you do with the information and look forward to the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Questions 1-3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m going to ask you a series of questions.\u00a0 Think about these carefully.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to challenge you to take a very good look, a different look, at you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number one, do you know your employees? When I say, do you know your employees, I mean, do you know them? Do you know them to the degree that you know if they\u2019re feeling well or not feeling well?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When they walk in your operation or your office, can you tell their disposition, the mood they\u2019re in, whether they are happy or not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, do you care about them? Do you care about the way they feel? Do you care that they\u2019re bringing something to work with them they\u2019d rather not?\u00a0 You may also prefer that they don\u2019t bring it either.\u00a0 I have never found the statement, \u201cLeave your personal life at home,\u201d to be reality.\u00a0 It does not happen.\u00a0 We are ourselves 24 hours a day, and so are your employees.\u00a0 So, let\u2019s make it as enjoyable as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number three, do you lead and manage from a perspective of service? You may not have thought about this one. As a manager, one of your responsibilities is to create for your employees the best work environment that you can put together, the best one that they can have, so that they can do their job the best possible.\u00a0 You are serving them, so that they can perform their job to the best of their ability. Do you manage from a perspective of service, or do you manage from a perspective of, \u2018It\u2019s all about me?\u2019 How do you answer that question?\u00a0 I put high value on leading and managing from a perspective of service.\u00a0 The most important person who ever walked on this earth lived this out to perfection.\u00a0 He washed feet.\u00a0 It is a great and attainable goal.\u00a0 He referred to Himself as the chief cornerstone, simply referring to Psalm 118:22, where He was first called the chief cornerstone.\u00a0 Where is the cornerstone of a building? It is at the bottom in one of the corners.\u00a0 Everything builds up from there. Can your team stand on who you are?If your answer happens to be, \u201cNo\u201d, it is not the end of the line.\u00a0 It is the beginning of positive change.\u00a0 You will enjoy the result, and so will they!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
